1959 Bandai, Mercedes-Benz 219 Convertible in Original Box

Incredible friction drive tin litho Mercedes-Benz 219 convertible manufactured by Bandai in near mint+ condition! Comes complete with high grade original box plus Bandai photo catalog and tissue separator.

Embossed four door convertible tinplate body lithoed metallic grayish-green with red, orange, and white double benchseat interior and raised black cowl. Dashboard and floorboard details were all included. Steering wheel is green plastic.

Features classic chrome plated Mercedes-Benz tombstone grille with embossed logo and plastic logo hood ornament. Also chrome plated are the headlights, bumpers (with recessed license plate area), turn-signals, divided windshield frame, and embossed wheel hub covers. Hubs also have Mercedes logo. Rear license plate was separately tabbed to the body. Windshield is blue tinted celluloid and covers all four side windows. Chassis is flat black solid plate with model number in raised letters. Tires are solid rubber.

Two piece box was illustrated in the style of Bandai's "Automobile's of the World" series, black on white. Original 59¢ prices stamped twice onto the cover and again, once, on one side. Box bottom is red. Original Bandai photo catalog shows 12 more autos from the series plus a check list of 71 vehicles on the reverse side. Original tissue paper separator is brown, but intact.
